1. Southern Madagascar Escape

First stop: Ifaty, a fishing village 45 km from Tuléar. This destination epitomizes the beauty of Madagascar's western coastline with beaches bordered by a turquoise sea and a coral reef. Diving and water sports will make you realize just how wonderful a tropical destination the island can be! Inland, wonder awaits at every turn during a zebu cart ride through a dry forest composed largely of thorny vegetation.

Following national road 7 north toward Antananarivo, we'll stop for two nights in the Isalo National Park and get a glimpse of the region's culture. Along the way, we won't miss admiring the tombs decorated with aloalo (a type of totem), various objects, paintings, and sometimes zebu skulls. They are characteristic of the Antandroy and Mahafaly peoples. The highlight of this circuit: a sunset through Isalo's window!

You'll want to capture what you see: a ruiniform massif dating from the Jurassic period, deep canyons, endemic rupicole vegetation, and more. Lemurs can be found here too! On the road to Fianarantsoa (further north toward Antananarivo), we'll discover more endemic flora: kalanchoes, pachypodiums, and ficus

In this season, the light is beautiful, the rice paddies are like mosaics displaying endless shades of green. In the fields, people are active, ingeniously cultivating during this favorable period, which allows them to live through the rest of the year. Beyond the Highlands, the Horombe plateau, covered with green, rolling pastures, allows Bàrà herders to raise their zebu herds.
Then, the Mozambique Channel, protected by a coral reef, offers a haven of peace and multiple discoveries for passionate travelers.

This trip features easy walks: 4 to 5 hours of hiking per day. A trip accessible to anyone who enjoys walking. Slow pace, few technical difficulties, with an average elevation gain of less than 400 meters per day.

2. Madagascar Discovery

The first stage of this trip offers us a fine overview of the wealth of Atsinanana's humid forests (eastern Madagascar), through the trails of Andasibe National Park. The remaining primary forests on Malagasy territory are fascinating: the endemicity rates of both flora (orchids, rosewood, medicinal plants, etc.) and fauna (lemurs, chameleons, birds, etc.) are very high, offering environments of great richness and unique to the world.

We'll retrace our steps heading south to reach Ambatolampy, a village renowned for its aluminum craftsmanship. This route reveals terraced rice paddy landscapes. The sense of discovery is guaranteed. Red brick or rammed earth houses, winding roads lined with small waterfalls…

The road south is even richer in discoveries and wonders: from silk worm raising in Manandona valley to richly ornate wooden houses with sculptures and marquetry from Ambositra, through the thick forest of the Ranomafana National Park and the canyons of Isalo National Park, we discover at every turn an ever-renewed landscape.

Our journey ends beautifully at Ifaty fishing village, on the edge of the Mozambique Channel. A sense of deep well-being, on a peaceful beach bordered on one side by turquoise waters and on the other by baobab forests…
