The defining feature of this sailing vessel, a trimaran: space.

Djebel Amour II The headroom is 2m in both the cabins and the saloon. The flat roof is well clear of the rigging, a genuine sun deck of 60 m². The stern offers a cockpit spanning 42m².

This space is the ideal setting to stretch out on sun loungers and contemplate the horizon or lose yourself in a book on the king-size bench in the shade of the awning. The hammock strung between the davits is equally cherished! The table seats 8 people, and depending on the sun, it finds its place on the port or starboard side of the main deck.

The interior: to starboard of the companionway, a vast chart table invites wanderlust.

To port, the L-shaped galley, separated from the saloon by a half-bulkhead forming a bar, is a welcoming space animated by our chef Lugon.

Facing the companionway, in the direction of travel, a table and bench accommodate 10 people sheltered from the rare tropical squalls. It's an opportunity to enjoy a warm space where the period teak interior woodwork and brass fittings add to the impression of comfort and luxury.

The age and fittings of the Djebel Amour II give it a charm that recent polyester constructions no longer possess.

The story of Djebel Amour is a story of passionate sailors…

Captivated by the adventure books of G Pesty, sailing aboard his trimaran the Architeuthis, JP Condet took the plunge in 1982 and had an aluminium trimaran built, inspired by the Architeuthis model and improved to offer greater habitability. Jean Pierre called upon Sylvestre Langevin, a renowned naval architect. (Elf Aquitaine, Roger & Gallet…)

1982 Launch of aluminium hull construction (aluminium AG 4), in France at Chantier Aluminium et Technique in Isigny. Djebel Amour II. The bare hulls were transported to England, where all fittings and rigging were completed. (Woodbrigde boat yard) All woodwork is in Burmese teak.

The boat was named Djebel Amour: a pied noir from Algeria, Jean-Pierre grew up near this mountain. Passionate about the desert, and captivated by the beauty of its name, he could name her nothing else.

14/07/1984, the Djebel Amour leaves its shipyard for Ceuta, Algeciras.

The adventure begins…

For 6 years, the Djebel Amour sailed the Mediterranean and Indian Ocean (Algeria, Tunisia, Malta, Greece, Egypt, Red Sea, Kenya, Seychelles, Chagos, Mauritius).

In 1990, she arrives in Madagascar. She explores the west coast and the Mozambique Channel for 3 years. Political instability prompts JP Condet to bring the boat to Malaysia where she remains for 18 months before returning to Malagasy waters until her eventual sale.

2010: Jean-Pierre, needing to part with the Djebel Amour, proposes to his friend Franck the purchase of the vessel. Franck, knowing the boat intimately from regular sailing aboard her, immediately embraced the project. He motivated a few friends and together they decided to give her a new lease on life.

The skipper and chef remain on board, with an additional crew member recruited.

The boat is hauled out for 2 months for hull, interior, deck and cockpit renovation. A new Mercedes OM 352 engine is purchased in Tana and installed. The windlass, trampoline, awning, lazy bag and jack, davits, tender, engine compartment soundproofing, electrics, and refrigerator are all new.

To support the costs and charges inherent to her operation and renovation, they decide to organize charters. A Madagascan registered company is established in Tananarive for the boat's operation, and we are proud to sail under the Malagasy flag.

14/07/2010, 26 years after her maiden voyage, the Djebel Amour sets sail once more for new adventures…
