Babaomby Island Lodge
Babaomby Island Lodge
Secluded lodge on the Babaomby peninsula (northern Madagascar), open March to December, focused on water sports and nature immersion.
Babaomby Island Lodge is located on the Babaomby peninsula, at the northernmost tip of Madagascar, in the Diego Suarez (Antsiranana) area. The property has no official star classification and is a small-capacity lodge—16 bungalows in total—designed for immersive stays in an isolated coastal setting. Access from Diego Suarez is provided by a shuttle service run by the lodge.
Why stay here
We selected this establishment for its singular position on the Emerald Sea, facing waters ideal for kitesurfing, windsurfing, wing foiling, diving, and snorkeling. We recommend it first and foremost to travelers seeking genuine disconnection, direct contact with the sea and nature, and who embrace—or even appreciate—the site's relative isolation. It is also well-suited to groups and families, thanks to bungalows that can accommodate up to four people.
Guests regularly praise the quality of meals served on-site, featuring cuisine centered around fresh seafood, as well as the staff's availability and warmth. Multiple reviews highlight the presence of instructors for water sports, including for beginners, and the rigor of safety monitoring at sea (binocular surveillance, jet-ski support). Keep in mind: the site is deliberately isolated and internet connectivity can be severely limited—a point to consider based on your travel habits.
Atmosphere
The lodge operates in a convivial and relaxed spirit, where meals are often shared among travelers from different countries. Its integration into the vegetation, well-maintained gardens, and immediate proximity to the sea create an atmosphere of a carefully managed camp rather than a conventional hotel. Days rhythmed by sessions at sea, communal meals, and evenings beneath the stars are characteristic of this type of remote lodge.
Note: the lodge is open only from March 17, 2026 to December 1, 2026. Outside this period, the establishment is closed. Internet connectivity is very limited or non-existent on-site.
Rooms
The lodge offers 16 bungalows in two orientations: sea-view and garden-view. Sea-view bungalows include double and family configurations (up to 4 people), suitable for both couples and families. All accommodations come with sheets, duvets, pillows, and towels. Details of categories and configurations are available in the cards below.
