For stays of less than two months, an entry and residence visa is mandatory. Obtaining a tourist visa is straightforward and can be done directly at the airport upon arrival.

When exiting the aircraft, you will proceed through the "Foreign Passport, Non-Resident" lane. You will need your valid passport, your electronic ticket, a return or onward flight ticket (with presentation of the ticket and visa for the next country), and an accommodation address.

You will pay the visa fee at the airport counter. Once you receive authorization to disembark, you will proceed to the PAF (border police) counter, where they will issue your security visa sticker.

The visa price depends on the duration of your stay:

➢ Short-stay non-convertible visa:

0 to 30 days: €18

31 to 60 days: €23

61 to 90 days: €32

➢ Convertible long-stay visa: €32

The visa is valid for a maximum of 90 days. This non-immigration visa cannot be extended or converted into a long-stay visa and does not permit paid employment. This procedure applies to all Madagascar airports that handle international flights.

However, if a foreign national wishes to stay longer on the island, they can obtain a 1-month visa upon arrival at the airport. This "convertible" visa can be extended for up to 10 years or longer. This 1-month period allows the applicant to complete the necessary steps to regularize their status.
