The spirit of travel

The catamaran sails through the turquoise waters of the Mozambique Channel, heading towards an immaculate white sand beach where the White Lands Lodge awaits you. After a night of sailing cradled by the waves, arrival reveals a striking landscape: limestone formations sculpted into tsingy, century-old baobabs dominating secret coves, coral reefs accessible just a few strokes from the shore.

The days are organized between exploring creeks with evocative names - the amphitheater, lovers' cove, bat cave - and sailing towards Moramba Bay, this natural jewel comparable to the pinnacles of Ha Long Bay. Here, tsingy islets defy gravity while athletic lemurs move through a forest echoing with the cries of parrots and eagles. Activities alternate between snorkeling among tropical fish, aquatic hikes towards coral formations, and evenings at the lodge's wellness space.

This region of northwestern Madagascar, influenced by Comorian and Swahili cultures, bears the mark of Arabized Majunga, gateway to this natural sanctuary. A stay where total disconnection reveals the very essence of Madagascar, far from traditional circuits.

From Antananarivo to Majunga by plane then cruise in the Mozambique Channel

Antananarivo - Majunga You continue your journey on domestic flights heading west. A Détours Madagascar guide on site welcomes you in the hall of Philibert Tsiranana airport in Majunga, the Arabesque, the colorful, the nonchalant. Here, we are very close to the Comoros, not far from Zanzibar. The architecture, the atmosphere remind us of these mythical places. Stroll through the city, at the market and in small shops. Majunga - EcoLodge des Terres Blanches We board at the end of the afternoon in Majunga on our 11.50 m catamaran. We are welcomed with a welcome cocktail. The boat will set sail around 5:30 pm. After departure, the crew serves us an aperitif facing the sunset in Majunga bay followed by dinner prepared by the chef. We spend our first night on board in a very comfortable cabin. The tone is set, the dream begins.

The Eco-lodge of Terres Blanches, rest and discovery

After a night of sailing we disembark early in the morning on the magnificent beach of Lodge des Terres Blanches. A small breakfast awaits us at the restaurant overlooking the sea. Below our bungalows, the beach is fine white sand, deserted and magnificent. Small loungers by the sea allow idyllic moments of relaxation for enthusiasts. The water is transparent, the coral patches and small colorful fish are quickly accessible by swimming. We may also encounter a few sea turtles, among others, during your swim.

Creeks, coves along the Mozambique Channel

EcoLodge des Terres Blanches - Calanques After breakfast, we set off to visit the coves close to the Lodge by speedboat. We discover in this limestone environment the amphitheater cove, lovers' cove, bats' cove and several others. Calanques - EcoLodge des Terres Blanches In the afternoon, a multitude of activities and leisure pursuits await us! Let's put on fins, mask and snorkel to discover the corals and superb tropical fish. We can also try our hand at water sports. Between snorkeling, windsurfing, kayaking and paddleboarding, the most athletic among us will be delighted. For those who prefer to keep their feet on the ground, the lodge offers badminton, table tennis and even pétanque, not to mention our open-air fitness room. We can also be pampered at the wellness center… or rest on loungers under the beach huts.

The incredible bay of Moramba, between Tsingy and baobabs

EcoLodge of Terres Blanches - Moramba Bay Early in the morning, we board the catamaran and set sail northward toward Moramba Bay. After a few hours of sailing along a superb coastline, we reach this unique place where the beauty of nature is breathtaking. Moramba Bay reminds us of Ha Long Bay or the limestone pinnacles of southern Philippines. It is one of the most beautiful natural sites in Madagascar. The bay contains a multitude of islands made up of Tsingy, limestone mushrooms defying the laws of gravity. Majestic baobabs are present everywhere. These forests are the kingdom of lemurs, eagles and parrots. The crew prepares lunch for us on a deserted beach. In the afternoon we discover the bay by canoe. Dinner is served on board and we will spend the night on the boat or, for those who wish, in a tent on the beach.

Discovering the marine flora and fauna and back to the Lodge

Moramba Bay - EcoLodge of White Lands Upon waking, we head to a spot where we can snorkel to admire the many tropical fish and sea fans. After lunch, we weigh anchor to reach the White Lands Lodge in late afternoon.

Water excursion and hiking

Take advantage of the many activities we have at your disposal and why not a small snorkeling expedition to discover tropical fish and corals just a few strokes from the beach.

As night falls, you will go for a walk in the forest accompanied by our guide.

You may perhaps admire the sportive lemur.

Visit to the city of Antananarivo and departure to Paris

We begin our visit by exploring the Independence Square district, an essential place in the country's history with the presidential palace in the background, the former residence of colonial governors who succeeded one another in the country. Then ascent to the Queen's Palace, at the top of the Analamanga hill, the former name of the city. We will pass successively through Andohalo Square, a major site of Merina aristocracy where kings and queens gave their speeches and discussed with the population for government decisions. Then past the Jean Laborde house, the prime minister's palace where we will enter to visit and see the remnants of the royal era, the courthouse and finally the Queen's Palace (closed to visits until June 2020). Free lunch in a restaurant in town. In the afternoon, we will make a detour to Violette and Dieudonné's ironwork workshop, which is a true model of solidarity entrepreneurship, managing a self-sufficient village of craftspeople. An unusual place to discover in Antananarivo, with the possibility of bringing back very beautiful travel souvenirs. Evening transfer to Ivato airport for the flight to Paris. Assistance with boarding.
