The spirit of travel

The Babaomby lodge overlooks a lagoon with changing reflections, where kitesurfing sessions alternate with contemplation of the sacred Loaf of Sugar sacred to the Antakarana. This isolated peninsula in northern Madagascar offers three days of total immersion in the Emerald Sea, renowned as one of the most beautiful spots in the Indian Ocean. Constant winds from April to November sculpt the waves while Safari canvas bungalows withstand the varatraza, the local trade wind that refreshes the evenings.

The circuit then unveils the geological wonders of the North: the Three Bays with jagged limestone, the red Tsingy of Irodo with layers colored by iron oxide, the stone cathedrals of West Ankarana. In the Amber Mountain, an ancient volcanic formation, eleven species of lemurs roam among orchids and strangler figs, while the world's smallest chameleon hides on the bark.

This mysterious northern region concentrates the heritage of the Antakarana peoples, guardians of sacred sites and ancestral traditions. From Babaomby to the ylang-ylang plantations of Nosy Be, the journey reveals an authentic Madagascar where time seems suspended between ocean and karstic massifs.

Visit to Amber Mountain

Day visit to Amber Mountain National Park. It is a quaternary volcanic complex covering an area of 300,000 hectares. The richness of its fauna and flora make it one of the most visited parks in the North. In the company of a local guide, we will discover this major botanical interest site, via the Thousand Trees Trail, ranging from lichens to orchids, from different species of palms to "strangler" figs, passing through the ramy, an endemic tree whose sap gives off a strong smell of turpentine. Animals will not be left out with the 11 species of lemurs that live in the park, including the crowned lemur, Sanford's lemur or the tuberculate Brookesia, one of the smallest chameleons in the world (barely 3cm in size, tail included), so small that it takes the trained eye of our guide to spot it. We may also come across the flat-tailed gecko, a flat gecko nicknamed the king of camouflage because it blends in so well with the bark of the tree it clings to. Picnic lunch at the Bat Station forest station, return to the hotel at the end of the day.

Visit to the Red Tsingy before continuing to Ankarana Ouest

Joffre town - Red Tsingy Early departure to Ankarana, heading south on National Route 6. At the village of Sadjoavato, we will make a small detour towards the village of Irodo to visit the Red Tsingy. Composed of sandstone, limestone, marl and laterite rich in iron oxide (which gives the red color), the Red Tsingy are the result of erosion on a soil of different layers exposed by deforestation. This surreal site is visited on foot and is particularly exotic. Red Tsingy - West Ankarana We then return to National Route 6. We then turn off to take a stretch of track to reach our hotel, towards the West of Ankarana National Park.

We take well-maintained, accessible, adapted and fun trails, combining ladders, bridges, railings and breathtaking viewpoints, to explore this unique environment with dreamlike scenery. The immensity of the karst massif contrasts with the surrounding greenery, at the heart of which wind the meanders of the Mahavavy River. Viewpoints established on the roof of the Tsingy offer a plunging view over the lake and the unusual bush camp, even to the Mitsio Archipelago on clear days. We also explore the Chameleon Cave: entirely developed, this excavation is filled with stalactites and stalagmites. This walk in the heart of the Tsingy de l'Ankarana Western massif will also allow you to meet lemurs, butterflies, vegetation of great variety, invertebrates and birds. Included: Tsingy Tsingy Circuit (group basis).
