Makay Expedition 2018 by Détours Madagascar
An exceptional adventure. Trekking through the bush, crossing rivers, on foot or by vehicle, exploring new routes... The scouting team at Détours Madagascar experienced an exceptional adventure this year.

Yes, exceptional. The team was the first to reach Makay by Starex vehicle. Just like in the "Cars VS Wild" television series, they had to face nature when the vehicle got stuck on the banks of the Manampanda River, along with countless other challenges on the road and trail before reaching the massif. "Well, nothing ventured, nothing gained", a lesson to take away: adventure truly embraces all-terrain exploration!
A warm atmosphere. The warmth of reunion, between the trail guides, porters, and team members. The week flew by. Whether under the intense heat of the plateaus or in the cool of the canyons, the atmosphere was perfect. There was never a dull moment.
A moment of connection. "Mutual respect and trust developed naturally over time", according to Papa Tolo. Each scouting mission brings new encounters, extraordinary experiences, and fresh exchanges both about each person's perspective and their skills. It's also a wonderful opportunity to educate the trail guides and porters about the conservation of their beautiful and prestigious natural heritage.
