Faly RANAIVOSON - Détours Madagascar

Faly RANAIVOSON

I developed a strong desire to discover the riches of my country, Madagascar, from a young age, thanks to my father, a national guide, who passed on his passion to me. My numerous personal and professional travels have allowed me to explore the entire country and acquire in-depth knowledge of its various regions. I am proud to be part of the Détours Madagascar team, which allows me to share our approach to travel, which is based on respecting the spaces and communities that welcome us. I take great pleasure in guiding people further in their thinking and in the adventure that each journey represents. Let yourself be guided!

Chinese portrait:

If I were a region, I would be Antsinanana, where the abundance of green symbolizes life. The wildlife and flora here are more diverse than anywhere else on the island.

If I were a village, I would be Andasibe, not far from where I come from. It is home to the largest lemur still living in the wild.

If I were a landscape, I would be the dense forest of Andasibe National Park, which represents the life that the forests hold in abundance. One must visit it to be surprised by the beauty of the trees that invite us to reconnect with nature.

If I were a plant, I would be lychee (letchi sinensis), as it provides shade and produces fruit that is sought after worldwide.

If I were an endemic animal, I would be the Indri Indri. With a single cry, I can awaken the world and attract travelers from all corners of the earth, participating in the cycle of nature.

If I were a month of the year, I would be May, which marks the beginning of the tourist season. Although, I must say, at Détours we don't know what low season is. It’s the time when I travel the most, and I love having lots of cultural exchanges and meetings with Mother Nature.

If I were a mode of transport, I would be a 4x4. I make sure I can go far, even in places that are difficult to access.

If I were a garment or accessory, I would be a swimsuit, because I can swim and run in it without having to change.

If I were a natural element, I would be water, for it gives life.

If I were a travel accessory, I would be a GPS, so I could always know exactly where I am.

If I were a food, I would be a banana, found almost everywhere, from the center to the coasts of Madagascar. It symbolizes multiplication, and we plant bananas to feel that we are multiplying happiness and never lacking, as bananas are available year-round. Additionally, my yellow color makes me visible from afar, giving hope.

If I were a sound, I would be the sound of a waterfall, both loud and capable of lulling and soothing.

If I were a language, I would be Malagasy, unique from others. Phonetically strange, yet beloved by many.

If I were a sport, I would be judo, as it is also the art of hugs that makes you fall.

If I were a quality, I would have a big heart, as I am generous and always help others, even without them asking.

If I were a flaw, I would be "too good, too naive," as people sometimes take advantage of my generosity, and the worst part is that I’m aware of it.

If I were a Malagasy personality, I would be a Tangalamena, a village priest, ancestral invocator, and clan leader. People come to me for advice because I am attributed wisdom and a beautiful spirit.

If I were a Détours Madagascar trip, I would be Malagasy Discovery, the first part of which takes place in the East at Andasibe before heading south. Yes, even though I am a true lover of the East’s forest, the southern region is still a must-see.
