Narindra FANOMEZANTSOA

After completing a double degree in tourism and IT management, I began my professional career as a stock manager in a family business before becoming a manager and supervisor of an ecotourism site. Since 2017, I have been working as an eco-responsible guide and joined the dynamic team at Détours Madagascar. This team left a strong impression on me with their ability to harmonize office work and fieldwork. No matter the difficulties encountered, the office team always found the best solution, even in extreme situations.

As a guide, I stand out for my observation skills, my ability to propose solutions, and my adaptability (it is often said that no matter the situation, there is always a solution).

Chinese Portrait:

If I were a region, I would be Vakinankaratra, the region where I grew up and to which I feel a special connection.

If I were a village, I would be a Zafimaniry village for its wooden houses sculpted by the skilled hands of the Zafimaniry tribe and the joyful life of its people. It feels remote, yet there is a sense of completeness, and the villages have a remarkable charm.

If I were a landscape, I would be a sunset by the sea. It is the best moment of the day for me, and experiencing it facing the ocean is one of the most peaceful and calming moments I love the most.

If I were a plant, I would be bamboo, as it bends but never breaks—a beautiful life lesson!

If I were an endemic animal, I would be a humpback whale for its majestic travels, loyalty, and intelligence.

If I were a month, I would be November, my birth month, and also the start of my favorite season, the rainy season. It also reminds me of two trips Détours assigned to me at the beginning of 2023: the magical Malagasy mosaic and Malagasy discovery, where I always had a little rain along the way.

If I were a mode of transport, I would be a minivan, not too small or too large—perfect for a small group of travelers.

If I were a garment or accessory, I would be a hat to protect myself from the sun.

If I were a natural element, I would be earth, as it reminds me of my origins and ancestors. I walk and drive on it, and I feel a connection to it, as it enables my passions: driving, traveling, hiking, and taking photos.

If I were a travel accessory, I would be a watch because I value punctuality.

If I were food, I would be coffee, as I drink a lot of it, and it helps me concentrate, energizes me, and supposedly contributes to longevity.

If I were a sound, I would be the sound of an engine, as I spend most of my time driving across Madagascar, and the sound of the engine makes me feel free.

If I were a language, I would be English, a language I couldn't master in school, but as I interacted more with English-speaking travelers, I grew to appreciate its complexity.

If I were a sport, I would be pétanque, a sport of precision and technique that I love playing with my father.

If I were a quality, I would be generosity because I love sharing and helping others.

If I were a flaw, I would be shyness. Being reserved can sometimes mislead others into thinking I'm closed off or indifferent, but that is not the case.

If I were a Malagasy personality, I would be Theo Rakotovao, a singer/guitarist, but most importantly an engaged artist and ambassador for environmental protection in the southwest of Madagascar.
