Like other tourist destinations, the tourism sector in Madagascar is not spared from bad practices and corruption. Resorting to them and feeding them only have harmful effects on the country’s development and its population. At Détours Madagascar, it is important for us to be impeccable and exemplary, which is why, on our scale, we fight against these bad practices, despite their attractiveness and ease.

An example among many. Our cars and drivers are perfectly in compliance: During our trips, there is no valid reason for one of our guides to give any amount, even a small one, to a traffic checkpoint.

Unofficial guides, with non-compliant vehicles, need to bribe police officers to “avoid” incidents and continue their journey. However, it is precisely the accumulation of these practices that fuels the country’s social instability, maintaining and feeding an unequal two-speed system.

Declaring employees, turnover, and being in compliance with Malagasy law are essential steps to halt the spread of corruption.
