Formalities at the airport

ARRIVAL FORMALITIES

Eligible goods :

On arrival, one (01) traveller is allowed to bring the following goods:

  • 2l of alcoholic beverages;
  • 2 cartons or 20 packs of cigarettes;
  • Ar 400,000 banknotes in local currency;
  • Clothing effects and any object of a non-commercial nature.

Special formalities :

The following goods are subject to the production of certain specific documents:

  • Import authorization for weapons and ammunition;
  • CITES permits for endangered fauna and flora species;
  • Valid rabies vaccination certificate for domestic animals (dogs, cats, etc.);
  • Phytosanitary certificate and import permits (issued by countries of origin) for plants and foodstuffs.

 

DEPARTURE FORMALITIES

Goods not subject to an export declaration at international departure.

One (01) traveller has the right to bring the following goods:

  • Ar 400,000 banknotes in local currency;
  • 250 gr of punched jewellery for residents;
  • 1 kg of punched jewellery for non-residents subject to presentation of an exchange declaration corresponding to the value of the jewellery;
  • 2 kg of prepared vanilla (pod, braided);
  • 5 kg of dry seeds (beans, lentils, cape peas, etc.);
  • 1 kg of onions;
  • 1 kg of pepper;
  • 1 kg of coffee;
  • 5 kg of meat (frozen, chilled or dried) except in the European Union;
  • 10 kg of fish and seafood (frozen, chilled or dried) up to 2 kg per species, purchased from approved establishments.

Special formalities:

The following goods are subject to the production of certain specific documents:

  • CITES permits (issued by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests or its agents at airports) for endangered fauna and flora species, natural products);
  • Phytosanitary certificate (issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries or its representatives at airports) for plants and animal products;
  • Health certificate for animal products and live animals (issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries or its agents at airports);

Exit permit required for:

  • "Precious woods and structures" (issued by the Ministry of the Environment, Water and Forests or its agents at airports),
  • "Precious metals and jewellery" (issued by the Ministry of Energy and Mines or its agents at airports),
  • Authorization to purchase foreign currency (issued by approved financial institutions) for exports of foreign currencies below 7,500 Euros.
  • Declaration to the customs service for exports of foreign currencies above 7,500 Euros.
